About Atmosphere:

Atmosphere is the leading streaming TV platform built specifically for businesses. Unlike ad networks or signage companies, Atmosphere is the only true TV company whose first priority is to entertain television audiences outside of the home. Our content is designed to be fun, engaging, and worth watching, transforming waiting rooms, gyms, bars, and restaurants into better experiences for customers and better businesses for owners.

We are the first and only company to think about both the business owner and their customers when creating TV content. With 60,000+ venues and a global audience of over 150 million monthly viewers, Atmosphere is redefining what TV means outside the living room.

About the Role:

As we enter our next phase of growth, we are seeking a technically strong, strategically minded Controller to lead and scale our accounting function. Reporting to the SVP of Operations & Business Development, this role is a key member of the finance leadership team and a cornerstone of our financial operations. You will own the day-to-day accounting function, ensure rigorous GAAP compliance, develop and mentor a high-performing team, and build the systems and processes needed to support a growing, high-velocity business.

We’re looking for a leader who brings the technical rigor of a Big 4 background and the adaptability required to thrive in a high-growth technology environment.

This position is on-site in Austin, TX. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. Availability to be in-office 4 days a week is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Accounting Function: You will own the integrity of the General Ledger. You are responsible for the end-to-end financial close, ensuring financial statements are accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant.
  • Scale Financial Operations: You will move beyond "keeping the books" to building a scalable engine. This includes optimizing our ERP (NetSuite) and integrated fintech stack to automate workflows and reduce the close cycle.
  • Technical Accounting Authority: You will serve as the primary decision-maker on complex technical accounting matters, including ASC 606 (Revenue) and ASC 842 (Leases). You will document positions and ensure the company remains ahead of regulatory changes.
  • Audit & Compliance Ownership: You will lead the relationship with external auditors, managing the annual audit to a successful conclusion.
  • Team Leadership & Development: You will manage, mentor, and scale the accounting team. Your goal is to build a high-performing culture focused on accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.
  • Strategic Partner: You will collaborate with FP&A and Executive Leadership to provide financial insights that drive business decisions, going beyond the numbers to explain the "why."

The "DNA" We Are Looking For:

  • The Architect: You don't just follow processes; you build them. You look at a manual workflow and see an opportunity for automation.
  • High-Level Executor: You can present financial results to the C-Suite one hour and dive deep into a complex consolidation issue the next.
  • Big 4 Standards: You maintain the "audit-ready" rigor of a top-tier firm but apply it with the speed and pragmatism necessary for a growth-stage company.
  • In-Person Leader: You believe that culture and mentorship happen in the room. You embrace our in-office environment as a competitive advantage for rapid problem-solving and team alignment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active CPA license is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience and prior service as a Controller in a corporate environment, preferably within Tech, SaaS, or Media.
  • At least 5 years of experience at a Big 4 firm is strongly preferred.
  • Deep proficiency in NetSuite is highly preferred.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing new AI ERP like Campfire or Rillet systems is a strong plus.
  • Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606 and ASC 842.
